mckenzies.net has moved!

mckenzies.net has moved to a new server. There will be some glitches until I sort them out. The Gallery is not online and neither is the Calendar or Forums, plus there may be some missing pages, images, etc...

I hope to have everything up and working soon.

Thanks!

Erin's Next Move

Hi there! It is hard to believe but it has been almost one year since I posted my last article about my AmeriCorps service. This past year has been great: I learned a lot about non-profit organizations, the psyches of at-risk middle school students, and my own enthusiasm for service. It was a hard year, as well: in November I was in a car accident, during January I had a procedure to have a uterine polyp removed, and my little old puppy dog, Spot, died last week.

Hey there, everybody! I just wanted to say "hi" and update you all on what I have been doing lately since I haven't seen many of you since I visited Illinois in 2001 when Grandmama Kann had her 90th birthday party.

Great news... English over German!

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which is the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

With war lurking in the shadows... Columbia Shuttle

As I sit every night watching the news, yesterdays report can hardly be described as "common" journalistic information. War has dominated the television sets as troops are called up everyday for deployment to the Middle East. For months, the possibility of us going to war has been instilled into our minds. We hear of other countries in conflicts while their militants are fighting to keep their beliefs solid and intact. But it seems that we have become numb to the talks of war.
